Balmoral
The Highland home of the Royal Family in Royal Deeside. Purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct
Immortalised in the Harry Potter films, this is Scotland's longest concrete railway bridge. Running between Fort William and Mallaig, it's a stunning train ride, either on the Jacobite steam train ( the 'Hogwarts Express') or on the local train. Or you can drive to the scenic point to watch the train go over the viaduct.
Scottish Whisky
The Highlands has a great range of Scottish Malt Whisky distilleries: Tomatin, Talisker, Dalwhinnie, Great Glen, Singleton, and from one of the oldest at Royal Lochnagar, to one of the newest The Cairn.
Isle of Skye
Rugged landscapes, stunning scenery, castles and walks just a 2-hour drive away. For whisky lovers, take the Talisker distillery tour, or head a short ferry trip across to the isle of Raasay distillery.
Mallaig
An active fishing port on the West Coast facing the Isle of Skye. You can reach it by train on the West Highland Line from Fort William, or drive. A great day out with wonderful views out to Skye and the islands.
